This beautiful example of a 15th century German Grosse Messer (or big knife) was hand forged in a coal forge at the John C. Campbell Folk School while teaching a class of 12 students how to make their own. With blade crafted from 80CrV2, shell-shaped guard forged from one piece of mild steel, and yew handle with pins hand-drawn out of brass tubes by yours truly, it’s truly one of a kind.
